Welcome!
This little section is to help out those new to both HiT and webcomics in general. If you're familiar with webcomics, want to get into HiT but don't want to read the archives, go here for a synopsis.
I'm new and don't want to/have time to read through the archives, how can I get started?
I've designed a set of comics specifically for this purpose. My archives are substantial and often quite low quality, so if you prefer something a bit more snappy to get started, You can read them here, they cover in brief the happenings and plot of the first two parts of the comic. Combined with the cast page, this should get you informed enough to be able to start reading from the beginning of Part 3
So, what is this thing?
It's a webcomic. That generally means an online graphic strip (ranging from newspaper gag style to full blown graphic novel) updated anywhere between once a month to daily. 99% of webcomics are free, authors either do it for the love of it (such as myself) or by living off donations and the sales of merchandise.
When do you update?
Twice a week (sometimes thrice) at 7pm on wednsdays and saturdays, melbourne time. If I have extra strips, I'll upload them and give people a few days warning via the news segment at the bottom of the main page
Are you, perchance, insane?
Only slightly.
What's it about?
HiT is a story about life gone... strange. The characters are as 'normal' as I can manage and so act more realistically than most you'd find in a heroic story, which leads to results that are sometimes wildly amusing, sometimes brutally tragic. Ultimately it is a story about discovering the deepest thoughts, motives and feelings that life holds. It's a strange trip through a stranger situation, so buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Is it okay to read this / let my kids read this?
HiT looks quite cartoony but it covers some very tricky issues. I do my utter best to do so fairly and with both restraint and compassion, but this comic WILL make you think. If you're ok with a book like 1984, Catcher in the Rye or the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, then you're probably fine with HiT
Right, where do I start?

His name is Sanyiel, and he doesn’t even come from the earth. Despite this, the three decide to help him recover.
Chapter 4: Friendship’s End
While trying to figure out what to do with Sanyiel until they can get him home, and putting up with the daily rigours of life, the trio are once again thrown out of their depth when a friend of Anne’s, thought long dead turns up and things get complicated. We discover that Gareth helped Anne recover from the traumatic death of her mother long ago and the two have been good friends ever since.
Chapter 5: High Tension
Knowing that Sanyiel can conceal his appearance, the three decide the safest place for him would be the most unlikely one- that is to say, Ashville high. They teach him enough that he can just safely attend school with them, but while he fools the teachers, Sebastian, one of the bullies of the school manages to almost make him break his cover. Sanyiel confesses to Anne that even as an alien he’s even more of a handful than they had imagined, a creature composed entirely of hatred. Anne compassionately takes this on board and in the end when Sanyiel expresses the desire to remain on earth permanently, the three agree.
Part 2: Revelations
Chapter 6: Family Ties
Jack and Gareth are ambushed by Sebastian, but before they can get pasted, Jack’s father, Damien, appears in a disheveled state, urging his son to go to his work because someone is in danger. Sebastian relents and the three boys manage to sneak into GCI, where Damien works. They discover that Jack’s father was doing rather more interesting things than they could have guessed and find a pair of girls, one of whom has no legs and the other is… well, for lack of better terms, a catgirl. Angered by this, Jack causes and explosion and they are forced to escape via the roof. Seeking out Damien at the hospital, they find out that Kyrin- the catgirl- was an accidental product of other research and that Tarah- the amputee- worked at GCI. Knowing that it would be too dangerous to take them back to the now destroyed labs, the friends decide to shelter these two as well as the situation becomes increasingly complicated
Chapter 7: The Night Between Us
Running out of space and ideas, Gareth and Jack desperately look for somewhere they can keep their new friends and charges hidden and safe. Jack almost burns himself out, but Gareth has a lucky break when Perry, the manager of Anne’s gym, shows them an old, forgotten wartime shelter. They renovate it as the swelling group of secret-holders try to come to terms with the insanity life has thrown at them of late.
Chapter 8: Icarus’ Bargain
The boys’ exploits at GCI attract the attention of a secret group of soldiers dedicated to ensuring society remains stable. They narrowly manage to escape, but Jack is badly hurt and Anne is knocked unconscious. One of the soldiers helps them to return to their home under oath and, tortured by events, is forced to join the group. As the events of the previous weeks begin to tell, strains open up and, exhausted, the group hopes for peace and quiet.

Meanwhile, Norman and Saul discover that Olympus has not slackened their interest and attempt to mediate for the children to be left alone.
Chapter 10: Apotheosis
Jack continues to work with Tarah on her legs, increasingly becoming more exhausted. Damien suggests the group take 'a night off' and try and sneak in a break to recuperate. The children eventually agree, but jack does so only on the condition he can finish Tarah's legs so she can accompany them to the cinema. Eventually he succeeds and the group departs, but during the screening Gareth is affected by an unknown force and suddenly the situation becomes far more dire...
